Overview

The Emotional Wardrobe is a one-year research cluster project funded by the AHRC/EPSRC under the 'Designing for the 21st Century' initiative, and hosted by Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. It brings together a diverse cluster of people from fashion, technical textiles, sustainable design, wireless communications, HCI, affective computing, ubiquitous computing, psychology and social science. The Emotional Wardrobe builds on the characteristics of fashion and clothing, and imagines a world where fashion converges with ICT. The Emotional Wardrobe is about a new genre of clothing, whose bestowed benefits are intangible and difficult to quantify .. but are closer to the emotive characteristics of fashion and clothing

The cluster aims to scope this unknown territory, unlocking the issues and research questions that this merger poses. The project will culminate in a visual report and a series of research proposals continuing the investigation and development of concepts and products in this area.
